A former porn actor and air steward from Teddington is taking part in a reality TV show to try and land a job as PA to one of the country's most flamboyant musicians.

Damon King, 37, is one of 10 hopefuls competing for the chance to be PA to Pete Burns, the cross-dressing lead singer of 1980s band Dead or Alive.

Mr King, an actor who has appeared in adverts and films - as well as porn movies in his younger days - will be on our screens from October 8 in the show, Pete's PA, airing on satellite channel Living.

Open auditions took place in May, with hundreds of hopefuls turning out for a chance to be on the singer's payroll and be by his side when he marries his partner Michael.

The number was whittled down to 10 willing candidates hungry for success and a slice of Pete Burns's lifestyle.

Mr King said he became a fan of the former Celebrity Big Brother star when he heard the song You Spin Me Round.

The final 10 will face a variety of gruelling challenges and demanding tasks designed to assess who is fit to take responsibility of organising the singer's working life, home and wedding.

Mr King, who has appeared in adverts for George at Asda and Barclays Bank, used to work for American Airlines and decided to make the change of career as he said acting wasn't paying that well.
