It has emerged that Elton John owns the photograph which is currently at the centre of a child porn investigation.

The picture by Nan Goldin, which is entitled, ‘Klara and Edda belly-dancing,’ was seized from Gateshead's Baltic Centre last week – a day before it was due to go on display at the gallery.

According to a statement on the singer’s website he has currently loaned the image – which shows two naked young girls – to the gallery.

The statement adds that the picture has already “been widely published and exhibited throughout the world.”

The picture came under fire after the Baltic’s owners alerted police to the content of the picture.

The picture is currently in the possession of Northumbria Police.
