Porn
Nearly a tenth (8%) of all porn content is accessed during the viewer’s work hours, according to a new UK survey.
The study, carried out by moneysupermarket.com, shows over one in ten of Brits (13%) are getting our kicks online by viewing adult content.
When it comes to viewing X-rated material, there is a clear differentiation between the sexes, with 20 per cent of men getting an uplift from a download, compared to two per cent of women. Of those who view and download adult content, a staggering 43% do so on average twice a day.
The research also shows we are a nation of download addicts with over half the population (55 per cent) spending an average 172 hours2 (or more than seven solid days) of leisure time per year downloading from the internet.
This compares to the 78 hours men spend playing or watching football3 or the 194 hours a year women spend shopping.
Jason Lloyd, head of broadband at price comparison website moneysupermarket.com, said: “Our research reveals people’s appetite for downloading and viewing content online has grown and is now an everyday occurrence. I was shocked to see so many people are taking risks by viewing and downloading adult content at work. There are numerous safeguards employers can put in place, but I would recommend simply looking at productivity levels, especially amongst the male workforce.”
Music is still top of the pops for both sexes, with 69 per cent of people having downloaded at least one tune. Software (60 per cent) is the second most popular download, ahead of games (37 per cent). Of all material, games are the only genre downloaded more by women than by men.
